There are rugs that cover a floor. And then there are pieces that transform the entire visual register of a room, and this botanical floral rug belongs firmly in the second category. The all-over composition — open roses, wildflowers, buds, trailing branches, lance-shaped leaves — fills every centimetre of the surface with a vitality that recalls the great decorative textiles of twentieth-century European design. This is not a repeated pattern: it is a composition, with its own internal balance between chromatic masses and painterly voids.

The combination of wool and art silk, a high-lustre plant-based fibre, is far from accidental. Wool brings body, resilience, and the tactile warmth that only a natural fibre can deliver. Art silk captures light differently from wool: it creates micro-reflections that shift with the angle of view, lending depth to the colour and a sense of movement to the surface. The result is a rug that seems to glow from within, particularly in the areas of cobalt blue and antique rose.

Hand-knotted construction represents the apex of textile craftsmanship. Every knot is tied individually by skilled artisans on a vertical loom, one at a time, with no mechanical shortcuts. Knot density determines the definition of the pattern: the finer the quality, the crisper and more precise the floral outlines. The high and low finish adds a sculptural dimension to the piece, with alternating zones of longer and shorter pile creating a relief effect that registers both visually and underfoot. Combined with the loop and pile texture, alternating closed loops with cut tufts, the surface actively invites touch.

The colour palette, dominated by cobalt blue with accents of pink, burgundy, lilac, white, and ochre, follows its own painterly logic rooted in botanical illustration. It recalls Liberty textile designs, Chinoiserie wallpapers, and the great Persian floral carpets, without imitating any of them: the line is freer, more contemporary, almost Impressionist in spirit.

Note: as with every hand-knotted artisan piece, slight variations in yarn tonality and knot density are an inherent part of the manufacturing process. These are not imperfections — they are the signature of a handmade object. Every piece is, by definition, unique.
