Four blocks of clear glass, stacked one on top of the other. Each one slightly offset, like a small tower built by hand.

The glass is thick and solid. It holds the light inside and lets it out in soft ripples.

Craft and technique

Each block is made of solid Murano glass, worked by hand in the furnace by Murano glassmakers. The surface is left textured, with a soft rippled effect, instead of being polished flat. That's what makes the light move across the glass as you walk past it. Pieces like these, in such thick solid glass, are becoming hard to find: each block needs time, skill and a lot of glass.

The blocks are stacked vertically and turned slightly, one against the next. The result is a simple, architectural shape, with a different profile from every angle. At the top, a polished brass lamp holder closes the line and adds a warm accent.

Lit up, the glass diffuses the light and multiplies the reflections along the edges of each block. In daylight, the lamps work as glass sculptures, catching and bending the light in the room.

Note: small differences between the two lamps in the texture, thickness and shape of the blocks come from hand-working and from the age of the pieces. They're a mark of authenticity, not defects.
