Origin: Venice, Italy
Eighty-two palmette, each one individually mouth-blown by a maestro vetraio. Each one a fan-shaped element — the palmetta motif, rooted in classical decorative arts from Greek friezes to Venetian stucco — formed by hand, shaped by breath, finished without moulds. Arranged across two tiers, they build a composition that is simultaneously precise and organic: geometric in its structure, alive in its execution.
Clear glass is the most demanding choice a designer can make. Where colour guides the eye and sets the mood, clear glass offers no such assistance. It has to earn its place through form, through volume, through the quality of what it does with light. Here, the palmette earn it completely. Each faceted surface catches the light from a different angle, refracts it, and sends it outward in a continuous, shifting pattern of white and silver reflections that animate every wall and surface in the room. Eighty-two of them together — across two tiers, at a diameter of over forty inches — produce an effect that is genuinely difficult to anticipate from photographs and immediately arresting in person.
The supporting frame is gold-painted metal, anchored by a clear Murano glass base that adds structural elegance at the centre of the composition. The gold does not impose warmth on the glass — it frames it, giving the eye a reference point within the field of refracted light.
The dual installation option is a practical rarity at this level. Configured as a traditional chandelier, the piece hangs at its full dramatic height — chain included, 48½ inches from ceiling to base. Configured as a flush ceiling light — on request, at the moment of purchase — it compresses to 21¼ inches, making it viable for rooms that could not otherwise accommodate a piece of this decorative presence. The same object, two completely different spatial solutions.
At Ø 40¾ in (105 cm), this is a chandelier that commands its room. The nine-bulb configuration — 3 × E14 and 6 × E27 — delivers generous, fully dimmable light output when paired with compatible LED bulbs.
Note: As with any hand-blown glass piece, slight variations in form and proportion between individual palmette are not defects but signatures of manufacture. In a composition of eighty-two elements, these variations are what give the chandelier its living quality — the sense that it was made, not assembled.
