This three-tier Ca' Rezzonico chandelier in deep green Murano glass is the second kind, entirely and without reservation.
Craft and technique
The Ca' Rezzonico is among the most demanding structures in the Murano glassmaking canon. Its characteristic curved arms are not formed in a single piece: each arm is composed of multiple individually blown glass segments; the bossole; assembled in sequence along a metal armature, a technique that requires both extreme precision and a deep familiarity with the material's behaviour under heat. Every flower, every leaf, every decorative detail is hand-formed separately by Murano artisans using historic-inspired moulds and free-hand blowing, then individually assembled into the final composition. The result is a chandelier that cannot be produced at scale, because each element is the outcome of a gesture that cannot be exactly repeated.
Structure and composition
Three graduated tiers develop the composition vertically, creating a presence that reads as architectural rather than merely decorative. The curved arms of each tier open outward in the classic Ca' Rezzonico silhouette, their movement balanced by the density of the floral and botanical elements that embellish each branch. The proportional relationship between the three tiers, narrowing as they rise, gives the chandelier a strong vertical axis while maintaining the visual fullness that defines the style. The deep green glass unifies the composition: a single, decisive chromatic choice that gives the piece its contemporary character without breaking with the Venetian tradition that produced it.
Colour and light behaviour
Deep green Murano glass has a particular relationship with light: it absorbs it differently at different intensities, shifting from a rich, almost opaque tone at low light levels to a luminous, translucent presence when fully lit. Against warm artificial light, the green takes on amber undertones that bring the piece into dialogue with natural stone, aged brass, and dark wood. Against cooler light, it reads with more depth and saturation ,architectural, precise, and quietly powerful.
Made to order: dimensions and configuration
This chandelier is produced entirely to order and fully adaptable to the requirements of the project. Height, diameter, number of arms, number of tiers, and overall configuration can be developed according to the specific proportions of the destination space. Custom colours and glass finishes are available on request, the deep green shown here is one point of departure, not a constraint. UL certification and specific electrical specifications are available on request for projects requiring compliance documentation.
