There are chandeliers that decorate a room. And then there are pieces that define it; that make every other element in the space read differently simply by being present.
This Ca' Rezzonico chandelier in transparent and gold Murano glass is the second kind, entirely and without reservation.
Craft and technique
The Ca' Rezzonico is among the most demanding structures in the Murano glassmaking canon. Its characteristic curved arms are not formed in a single piece: each arm is composed of multiple individually blown glass segments; the bossole; assembled in sequence along a metal armature, a technique that requires both extreme precision and a deep familiarity with the material's behaviour under heat. Every flower, every leaf, every bud and every decorative scroll is hand-formed separately by Murano artisans, then individually assembled into the final composition. The gold details are not applied to the surface: they are fused into the glass during the blowing process, becoming part of the material itself, present in the same way the tradition they reference is present, inseparably.
Structure and composition
Multiple curved arms develop outward from the central structure in the classic Ca' Rezzonico silhouette, each terminating in a decorated lamp holder that is itself an element of the composition rather than a purely functional component. Flowers, leaves and buds punctuate the arms at intervals, creating a sense of movement and growth that gives the chandelier its distinctive scenic quality; the eye moves through the piece rather than stopping at it. The gold details appear throughout: at the tips of the floral elements, along the scrolls, in the transitions between one component and the next. When lit, they amplify and distribute the light source across the whole composition, turning every arm into a point of reflection.
Light behaviour
Transparent Murano glass and gold work together in a way that no other material combination achieves. The crystal glass captures and multiplies the light, dispersing it across the surrounding surfaces in clean, shifting reflections. The gold warms every point it touches, anchoring the light and giving the room an atmosphere that reads as intimate without being dim, celebratory without being excessive. The result changes with the time of day, the intensity of the source, and the surfaces it meets: no two evenings in this room will look quite the same.
Made to order: dimensions and configuration
This chandelier is produced entirely to order and fully adaptable to the requirements of the project. Height, diameter, number of arms and overall configuration can all be developed according to the specific proportions of the destination space. Custom colours and glass finishes are available on request, the transparent and gold version shown here is the classic point of departure, but the piece can be interpreted in any colour within the Murano glass palette.
