There are chandeliers that complete a room. And then there are chandeliers that define it from the moment they are installed.
It is not a subtle piece. It is not meant to be. It is meant to be the first thing you see, the last thing you remember, and the detail that makes the room impossible to replicate anywhere else.
The craft
Each of the 185 poliedri elements is individually mouth-blown, following techniques that have been passed from master to apprentice across generations of glassmaking tradition on the island. The poliedri form — a geometric, multi-faceted glass body — was among the most significant innovations in Italian decorative lighting during the late twentieth century, and it remains one of the most studied and collected expressions of that era. Its presence runs through the most important production of the period: Venini, Vistosi, and the design circles of Carlo Scarpa and Gio Ponti all engaged with the poliedri vocabulary in ways that have shaped how we understand Italian lighting design today. In amber, the poliedri facets reach their full expressive potential. The color is warm enough to transform the quality of light in a room — not simply filling it, but tinting it, deepening it, making it feel as though the space itself is glowing rather than merely illuminated. At 185 elements, the density of the composition means there is no angle from which the piece reads as sparse or incomplete: it is solid, immersive, and chromatic in every direction.
The material and structure
The brass and gold-tone metal frame provides the structural logic for a composition of this complexity. One hundred and eighty-five glass elements, each 5⅞ inches tall, must be held in precise geometric arrangement without the structure becoming visually dominant — and this frame achieves exactly that. The warmth of the metallic finish mirrors the amber of the glass rather than contrasting it, creating a tonal unity across the whole piece that reads as deliberate, mature, and fully resolved. Hand-assembled in Murano to the standards required for authentic Vetro Artistico® Murano production, the structure is built for longevity: the fit between elements is tight, the hardware is substantial, and nothing about the construction suggests compromise.
Style and spaces
The poliedri design has a geometric clarity that makes it legible at scale — and at 35 inches in diameter, legibility matters. From across a large room, the amber sphere reads as a single chromatic mass, a warm orb suspended at the center of the space. From closer, it reveals itself as a dense collection of individual objects, each one slightly different from the next, each one the result of a specific act of craft. That shift — from whole to part and back again — is what gives a piece of this kind its lasting visual interest. In a contemporary interior, the amber tone introduces warmth and materiality into spaces that might otherwise read as cool or neutral. In a more traditional or layered setting, the precision of the poliedri geometry provides structure and focus. In luxury hospitality — hotel lobbies, private dining rooms, members' clubs — it creates an atmosphere that guests register immediately, even if they cannot name exactly why the room feels the way it does. The six E27 bulbs provide a generous and even light output across the full diameter of the piece, suitable for rooms of significant volume.
Dimensions
The chandelier hangs to 40¾ in (105 cm) including chain, or 17½ in (45 cm) for the body alone. The composition measures 35 in (90 cm) in diameter. Individual poliedri elements measure 5⅞ in (15 cm) in height and 2¾ in (7 cm) in diameter. The wide diameter relative to the body height gives this chandelier a distinctly horizontal presence — it reads as expansive rather than tall, making it particularly well suited to rooms with generous floor area and ceiling heights of at least 10 ft. The E27 fitting is the most widely compatible standard in residential and hospitality lighting, giving full flexibility in bulb selection, light temperature, and dimming capability.
Note: As with every hand-blown glass piece produced on the island of Murano, slight variations in tone and surface texture between individual poliedri elements are not imperfections. They are the mark of the fornace — evidence that no two elements were made by a machine, and that no other chandelier in the world will be exactly like this one.
