One hundred and forty hand-blown glass elements, each faceted, each turquoise, arranged into a perfect sphere suspended from a brass and gold-tone structure. At a diameter of nearly 24 inches and a hanging height of over 51 inches including chain, this is not a piece that asks for attention. It commands it.

The craft

Every one of the 140 poliedri elements is individually mouth-blown by Venetian maestri vetrai in a Murano fornace, using techniques that have been refined across centuries of glassmaking tradition on the island. The poliedri form; a multi-faceted glass body with precise geometric surfaces; was one of the defining innovations of Italian decorative lighting in the late twentieth century. It appears throughout the most celebrated production of that era, associated with names like Venini, Vistosi, and the design legacy of Carlo Scarpa and Gio Ponti, and it has never left the vocabulary of serious interior design. In turquoise, the poliedri facets take on a particular intensity: the color is saturated enough to read boldly from a distance, yet the transparency of the hand-blown glass allows light to pass through each element, softening the hue and preventing it from feeling heavy. The result is a chromatic presence that is vivid without being aggressive; rare in a piece of this scale.

The material and structure

The brass and gold-tone metal frame performs a structural role, but it is also a visual one. The warmth of the metallic finish anchors the coolness of the turquoise glass, creating a contrast that feels considered rather than accidental — the same kind of material dialogue that defines the best Italian design objects of the twentieth century. Dimensions

Individual poliedri elements measure 5⅞ in (15 cm) in height and 2¾ in (7 cm) in diameter. Installation requires a ceiling height of at least 10 ft to allow the piece to read as intended — ideally more, in keeping with the scale of the composition. The E14 fitting is compatible with the full range of low-consumption LED bulbs currently available, allowing for precise control of light temperature and intensity.

Note: As with every hand-blown glass, slight variations in tone and surface texture across individual poliedri elements are not imperfections. They are the signature of the fornace — the proof that no machine was involved, and that no two pieces of this chandelier will ever be exactly alike.
