The trunk is made of aquamarine glass, piece by piece. At the top, a crown of blue leaves opens and falls softly, just like a real palm.

Craft and technique

Every element is worked by hand in the furnace by Murano glassmakers. The leaves are long and curved, with veining modelled in relief, so each one catches the light along its ribs. The trunk is built from cup-shaped aquamarine elements, stacked one on top of the other around the brass stem, like the bark of a palm.

A round brass base holds a slim brass stem. Around it, the aquamarine elements rise in a regular rhythm, from the foot up to the crown. At the top, the blue leaves spread out in every direction: some reach upwards, others bend down towards the trunk. The result is a lamp that looks like a sculpture, from every side.

With the light on, the glow comes from the heart of the crown and filters through the leaves. The blue glass colours the light, and the veining draws soft lines of brightness on each leaf. The aquamarine trunk glows gently below, completing the effect.
